According to a new report in the Daily Mail, Joss’ 4th studio album, Colour Me Free, has been delayed from its previous release date next month.
Speaking from the Fortune Forum Summit charity event she performed at in London, Joss expressed frustration at EMI’s decision to push the album release to July, at the earliest.
“They were supposed to be launching the album in April but now they’ve postponed it until July. I just don’t know what’s happening with it – they really need to pull their finger out. I’ve worked very hard on this record and I don’t know what the plans are until EMI confirm a release date. There’s a world tour planned and everything is in their hands. I really don’t know what is going on.”
I don’t know if we should be surprised. Record labels do this sort of thing all of the time. It’s just a shame that promo efforts and a tour has been set up for an April release that is no longer happening.
Stay tuned!

In the past few days, many newspapers have been publishing stories about the fall of Joss’ celebrity and how she is now being “forced” to play small gigs because she can’t fill larger venues.
This is all very laughable to anyone who knows anything about the music business. Joss put this small tour together very quickly and it simply doing it to give back to her UK fans and give them a taste of her new material. When the album comes out, she’ll get back to doing a larger tour, just wait!
Anyway, she has responded to the speculations about her career, telling The Independent:
“I play all types of shows and the smaller ones are often the best. I’ve been playing for the first time my new songs from the album. Sometimes it’s more fun to play intimate gigs rather than being stuck in a rehearsal room.”
When I first saw (and met) Joss perform live, it was when she was first blowing up in the US. She could have been doing large venues, but she was in the midst of an intimate club tour. She was interacting with the crowd, asking questions, telling stories, and reaching out and touching fans. I’ve been to a lot of concerts, and my favorite type are the smaller and more “intimate” ones. I hope Joss does a round of them when she starts to promote Colour Me Free in the States too!
