PRESS RELEASE

NEW YORK, NY (June 27, 2011) – Grammy Award and two-time Brit Award winning artist Joss Stone has signed an exclusive, worldwide administration deal with Kobalt Music Group (Kobalt).

“At 24 years old, Joss Stone has already sold over 11 million albums and established herself as an amazing artist and uniquely talented songwriter. We’re proud to be globally working with her as she launches several exciting new projects,” said Willard Ahdritz, CEO and Founder of Kobalt Music Group.

Through the deal Kobalt will represent her next solo album, LP1, which is to be released by her newly established label Stone’d Records in partnership with Surfdog Records on August 1 in the U.K. and the rest of the world on July 26. Co-written and produced by Eurythmics co-founder Dave Stewart and friends, LP1 is the first album Stone has recorded with total creative freedom.

In addition to the solo album, Kobalt will represent the works Stone has also co-written for the highly-anticipated album by Superheavy, the supergroup founded by Mick Jagger and Dave Stewart. Alongside Jagger, Stewart, A.R. Rahman and Damian Marley, Stone performs in the supergroup.

Kobalt’s global synch and creative teams will also work with Stone to develop new creative opportunities as well as to exploit her works in film, TV, advertising and other media worldwide.

So, it looks like “Somehow” will be Joss Stone‘s lead single from LP1 after all. I kind of guessed it would, but didn’t want to jump the gun and/or spread any possible misinformation.

Take a listen to the radio edit below. I can’t even predict which radio formats this track will be serviced to. It could go several places! I just need them to hurry up. I mean, the album’s coming out in 1 month! Time to get a move on!

Alllll right! We’re getting even more SuperHeavy news, and I love it!

The debut single, “Miracle Worker”, will make its premiere on July 7th, with the album following September 19th (20th in the US). Mark your calendars!

Ahead of the first single’s release, teaser images will roll out this week online and will include the album’s artwork, designed by American artist Shepard Fairey who was behind Barack Obama’s Hope poster for the 2008 US presidential election.

Getting so excited!

Moving right along, we get another update on Joss Stone‘s side project, her super group, “SuperHeavy”.

We’d already learned that SuperHeavy‘s album will be released in September, but now we also know it will be handled by Universal Music. “Miracle Worker” is the first single from the effort, which will feature a video starring all 5 members.

In case you’ve forgotten, or are new around here, SuperHeavy is made up of Mick Jagger, Eurythmics founder Dave Stewart, Joss, composer A.R. Rahman and reggae artist Damian Marley.

I’m excited to hear what SuperHeavy has come up with. Love to see such talented musicians come together. The music industry needs collaborations like this!

Here’s a short introduction video from the group’s official YouTube Channel:

A big thank you to Popeater for finally turning Joss news away from those psychos who were arrested outside her home!

In a new interview, she talks about her new album, LP1, how she’s feeling after the security scare, working with Dave Stewart, her love of baking and more.

My favorite part?

And baking. Do you have a side business we don’t know about?
Actually I give them to the post office and they sell them.

Bullsh*t!
No, not bullsh*t! (Laughs) And they’ve been giving me half the profits which I find quite friendly.

I freaking love her!

So impressive that she recorded LP1 in 6 days! I love that she’s so spontaneous! She feels the creative spirit and runs with it! I’m sure we’re in for a treat!

I , upon first hearing the news of those 2 disturbed men, who were up to no good near Joss’ house and I’m still horrified by the entire situation.

I love that Joss is putting forward a brave face and releasing a statement that she is fine, but something like this really has to affect you, and I hope that she is surrounded by those she loves and they continue to keep her spirits up.

To the tacky and classless people of the internet who made countless jokes today: FUCK YOU! I’m sorry for swearing, but I was — and am still — utterly disgusted by some of the comments I saw today on Twitter. Do you people have no hearts? What if that were your sister, aunt, mom, or girlfriend? Would it still be something to make jokes about?

And honestly, why are people still hung up on Joss having an American accent? Is it really that serious? Over here, we don’t give 2 shits if someone, from here, goes to work overseas and returns with a foreign accent. It happens when you move. Get over it, people. Making light of this serious situation, or suggesting that you “don’t blame them” for wanting to kill her is just fucked up. Reevaluate your lives.

Thankfully Joss’ neighbors are observant and compassionate human beings and alerted the authorities, who arrested and charged the pair.

Here is Joss’ statement:

“I’d like to thank everyone for their concern but I’m absolutely fine and getting on with life as normal while the police continue with their inquiries.”

And that’s all I have to say about this. TEAM JOSS STONE!

We’re playing a song from LP1 on my website. http://www.jossstone.com Check it out! xoxox via web

Miss Joss Stone is now streaming the full audio of what could be the lead single of LP1, “Somehow”, on her official website. I don’t want to jump the gun and say it’s officially her lead single (although all signs point that way). But remember, when she tweeted it, she said “We’re playing a song from LP1 on my website.” and not “Check out my first single, currently playing on my website.” Semantics? Perhaps, but I’ll just wait it out for now :)

Love the sound! Like a funky mesh of soul, rock, and country which compliments her voice very well! Hope this single is well received because Joss definitely deserves it!
