It’s official! Joss Stone‘s 4th studio album, Colour Me Free, sold 27,000 copies in its first week of release (US only) to debut at #10 on the Billboard charts.

As I mentioned on Twitter, that’s pretty good for an album that was only available at iTunes and Target with very little album promo. I mean, she did a handful of shows right when “Free Me” was released, and that’s it. We, as fans, can only imagine how much more successful the album would have been with a proper push from Virgin/EMI.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon took the top spot, moving 153,000 copies in its second week on the chart.

Hits Magazine has posted their weekly “One-day sales” forecast and here’s what they had to say about this week’s releases and how they see them finishing on the charts next week.

It’s the fourth quarter, and apparently everyone’s expecting Michael Jackson to save the day.

And while we have to wait until next Monday for the “companion” to the superstar’s much-anticipated This Is It concert documentary, Chop Shop/Atlantic’s The Twilight Saga: New Moon appears to be the front-runner to land at #1 in its first full week on the HITS Album sales chart.

Meanwhile, Curb country superstar Tim McGraw’s latest, Southern Voice, appears headed for a first-week debut in the 95-105k range, based on one-day sales reports from those few retailers who haven’t flown away in a balloon yet, certainly a lock for Top 3, depending on how this week’s chart-topping Reprise album from Michael Buble does in its second full week in stores.

Virgin/EMI soul chanteuse Joss Stone‘s latest, Colour Me Free, which will come out as a Target/iTunes exclusive after her well-publicized wrangling with her label, looks to be in the 25-30k range.

Where on earth did this come from? I know the label tried to release this song (unsuccessfully) a couple of years ago, but didn’t know there was a video. Anyway, pretty entertaining!

Joss Stone is one of many celebs lending their voice in support of the One Drop Foundation’s clean water mission, “Poetic Social Mission”. The movement is described as “a program discussing issues related to access to water”.

Unlike Live Aid, the ‘Mission’ isn’t just a concert; it’s a “poetic tale” written by award-winning author Yann Martel (‘Life of Pi’) that will be told in installments from 14 cities around the world, many accompanied by multimedia works from local artists.

The event will be webcast on Friday, Oct. 9 at 8PM (ET). Learn more on the One Drop Foundation website.
